A popular tourist attraction since the 18th century, the temple ruins have attracted some of the brightest minds of Europe’s literary and academic world. Its praises have been sung by the likes of William Falconer, Lord Byron, Herman Melville and Martin Heidegger. Today, the Archaeological Site of Sounion offers memorable moments, not only through the exploration of the long history and mythology that surrounds it, but also because of its breathtaking views to the Aegean Sea.
